American Airlines is proud to announce the successful conclusion of its latest
Stand Up To Cancer® (SU2C) fundraising campaign, raising a
record-breaking $5 million to support critical cancer research. The campaign
was powered by the generosity of American’s team members, partners and
AAdvantage®
members, who turned their donations into impact and miles.
SU2C enables scientific breakthroughs by funding collaborative,
multidisciplinary and multi-institutional scientific cancer research teams and
investigators. Over its nine-year collaboration, American has raised more than
$35 million to benefit SU2C and its mission to raise awareness and fund
research to detect and treat cancers with the aspiration to cure all patients.
From Aug. 15 to Sept. 30, 2025, customers who donated $25 or more to SU2C
online at
StandUpToCancer.org/AmericanAirlines
received 25 American Airlines AAdvantage® bonus miles for every
dollar contributed.
Anyone who used their American Airlines AAdvantage® Mastercard®
credit card when donating earned 50 AAdvantage® bonus miles per
dollar, up to $3 million in total donations. That $3 million donation maximum
was reached in the first weekend of the campaign.
“We’re incredibly grateful to our AAdvantage® members, Mastercard,
and everyone who joined us in this effort,” said Caroline Clayton, Chief
Marketing Officer at American Airlines. “Together, we’re helping fund research
that brings hope to millions of patients and families.”
Throughout the campaign, American shared stories of team members whose lives
have been touched by cancer. One of those stories included the journey of a
pilot whose cancer diagnosis motivated him to return to the flight deck.
Team members also volunteered their time for various events, including
attending Stand Up To Cancer's televised fundraising special in Nashville for
a night of music, inspiration and hope. American team members and SU2C also
collaborated with the Chicago Cubs and Texas Rangers in August and September
to help fans honor loved ones during special placard moments during the games.
Although the campaign has ended, donations can be made year-round, and the 10
miles-per-dollar offer remains available, allowing customers to continue
supporting SU2C’s mission to accelerate the development of new cancer
treatments.
