They Come From Away

Among the hundreds of diversions that took place on Sept. 11, 2001, six of our aircraft were diverted to Gander, Newfoundland: American flights 101, 63 and 49; TWA flight 819; and US Airways flights 03 and 27.

That day, our crew members came together to care for our customers and each other, and, in turn, the tiny town of less than 10,000 took care of their unscheduled visitors. The hit Broadway musical "Come From Away" tells the story of what transpired in the small Canadian town after 38 diversions. On Nov. 2, crew members were reunited in New York City to attend the play together. Learn more about their experiences in Gander and how "Come From Away" tells their story in the video below.
