American Airlines Names New Leadership for Operations

Kimball Stone named Senior Vice President – Flight Operations and Integrated Operations Center and Ralph Lopez Massas named Vice President – Integrated Operations Center

FORT WORTH, Texas – American Airlines today named Kimball Stone as senior vice president – Flight Operations and Integrated Operations Center, and Ralph Lopez Massas as vice president – Integrated Operations Center.

“Both Kimball and Ralph are exceptional leaders with track records of achievement wherever they’ve been,” said American Airlines President Robert Isom. “But most importantly, they excel at taking care of their teams, and we are thankful to have their leadership at the helm of these important groups.”

In this new role, Stone will continue to lead American’s nearly 15,000 pilots and Flight department and also oversee the airline’s Integrated Operations Center (IOC), where more than 1 million mainline flights serving more than 140 million customers each year are supported.

Lopez Massas is currently American’s vice president – Miami Hub Operations. In his new role, he will report to Stone and will lead American’s IOC team members working behind the scenes to deliver a predictable, consistent and reliable travel experience to customers, a skill he’s honed in his decades of Customer Experience leadership.

“We talk a lot about the IOC being the nerve center of our airline, and that has never been truer,” said David Seymour, American’s senior vice president – Integrated Operations. “The team plays a critical role in connecting the dots, keeping our operation moving and coordinating between so many different workgroups and departments — both internal and external. Kimball, a veteran IOC and Flight leader, will bring tighter collaboration between Flight and the IOC, and Ralph, who has led many of our important airport teams, will help build tighter bonds between our Customer Experience and IOC teams.”
